Walnut Tree Walk Primary School is committed to providing a secure environment for pupils, where they feel safe and are kept safe.
All adults at Walnut Tree Walk Primary School know that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, irrespective of the role they undertake or whether their role has direct contact with responsibility for children.
In adhering to our policies and procedures, staff and visitors promote a climate where children and adults feel confident about sharing any concerns that they may have about their own safety, or the wellbeing of others.
Any staff, visitor or parent who has a safeguarding concern should report this to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who can be contacted through calling the school on 0207 7351402.
Andrew Chaplin, Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead
Sue Butcher, Deputy Head, Deputy DSL
Catherine Thompson, SENDCo, Deputy DSL
Our governor responsible for Safeguarding is our Chair of Governors, Martin Bailey. He can also be contacted through the school office.
All children are made aware that they can speak to any of the above or any member of staff within the Walnut Tree Walk school team if they are felling unsafe or have any concerns about their wellbeing or safety, or that of their peers.
We understand our role as part of the national Prevent Terrorism strategy and that Lambeth is a Prevent Priority Area. We are also in a community where pupils may be at risk of female genital mutilation (FGM).
We are very aware that one of the safeguarding risks for our children is the use of the Internet. Therefore, we have developed a computing and PHSE curriculum that explore the many different aspects of keeping ourselves safe online.
